Q: Visual Voicemail Not working after IOS 9 Update

When trying to open voicemail it dials voicemail.  Worked fine before IOS 9 update.  I have reset the Network Settings and nothing.   Has anyone found a solution to this issue?

iPhone 6, iOS 9

Visual Voicemail does not work also. I have already reset my network settings and hard reset the phone. It is a iPhone 6 on AT&T. I have heard that after the IOS 9 update, Verizon iPhones have a network setting update automatically, but that does not seem to be the case with AT&T at this point.

I had the same problem and was able to resolve by resetting my voicemail password.  I used the myAT&T app on the phone, but I'm sure the option is available online, too.

Once your password is reset go to the Voicemail tab of the phone app and you'll be prompted to "set up" your voicemail (on a side note, I then encountered another bug in that I wasn't able to record my own greeting, could only accept the default greeting, but that's for a separate conversation ).

Once I completed voicemail setup however, Visual Voicemail was back in action.  Whole process only took about 1 minute, so pretty low investment.

After updating my husband's iPhone 4S and my own 5S to IOS 9, when we hit the voicemail buttons, the iPhones called AT&T voicemail instead of showing the visual VM list. I tried everything on this list supplied by Apple Support: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201436. Nothing worked except the last thing on the list, calling our carrier, AT&T. The person in tech support there was able to fix the problem. It took about ten minutes per phone. When you call your carrier, don't call on the phone that needs to be fixed because you need to be able to shut it down, reset, and test it while you're on another phone with tech support. When finished, you'll need to redo your voicemail message.

Immediately after installing IOS9 update, I noticed trouble with visual voicemail.  Had to turn phone on and off to be able to view and listen to visual voicemail.  Then I had to press delete 8-15 times before it would delete the voicemail.  Major pain and extremely frustrating.  Thought I was going to have to purchase a new $850 I phone.  So today called ATT, and spent entire day with them erasing phone and restoring via Icloud, and then via ITunes.  The problem would resolve if I restored as a new phone, but then I lost all my apps, contacts, notes, etc.  After 6-8 hrs of  ATT tech support, I was told I had 3 options:  1) I could call Apple and explain ATT had exhausted all their efforts, and see if they could resolve issue 2) I could get a brand new phone and manually enter all my new information and apps, notes, etc.--could not transfer any of my information because my back-up was corrupt or 3) use same phone if I restored to a new phone and also lose all my prior information.  I figured Apple would not help me without paying for support even though issue didn't occur until I installed new IOS 9.  Tried their online support, but kept getting message that it was not available at that time, to try back later.  Finally, I decided to erase my phone and restore from a previous back up, and that solved my issue with visual voicemail, and only lost recent information.  There is a definite issue with install of IOS9 on ATT and I hope Apple or ATT fixes it soon.  I've wasted so much time and endured extreme frustration over last few weeks since I installed IOS9 trying to listen and delete voicemails and wasted 2 days pricing phones and getting tech support.   I saw where others only had to reset their visual voicemail password, but I tried that numerous times today also, and it didn't resolve issue until I restored to a back up prior to IOS9 install.

After multiple resets, changing my voicemail password and calling AT&T my voicemail delivery is still delayed. I'm getting tired of resetting and having to re-enter all of my passwords. However, I found a solution. I forward all of my calls to my Google Voice account and the voicemails are delivered immediately. I hope this issue gets fixed soon.
