Q: Transfering OLD iPhoto library to El Capitan Photo

I am considering updating to El Capitan 10.11.4 on my Early '08 20-inch iMac (currently running OS X 10.9.5 - 6GB RAM), and I am using a VERY old version (don't laugh) of iPhoto '09 (8.1.2) and iMovie '09 (8.0.6). Right now, they run perfectly (I recently upgraded to the maximum amount of SDRAM - 6GB. WHAT a difference!)

I have backed everything up on Time Machine to an external HD, but I am most worried about my photos (I don't use iMovie often). I have thousands of photos in my iPhoto libraries, divided into about 150 different Events. Does El Capitan come with a Movie app, or will I need to purchase or upgrade iMovie as well?

Is there anything I need to beware of - or do - before updating to El Capitan? THANKS for your help!

See these suggestions - and be sure you have a good backup - I personally would not do this without a bootable clone of my system to go back to if I needed to - in additions to a good backup
