If I understand correctly, there's an issue enabling Bluetooth on your iMac and pairing your Apple wireless devices with the computer. Is the Bluetooth hardware displayed in System Information?

Open the System Information or System Profiler app from the Utilities folder of your Applications folder. Or just hold down the Option key while choosing System Information or System Profiler from the Apple menu.
One easy troubleshooting step that you can try is resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac as described here:
