Q: has anybody successfully changed their apple id and password???

I am female and recently married - so I have a new surname. I want ALL of my emails etc to acknowledge this fact. It seems that Apple are just making it so difficult. I no longer use the email account with virgin so PLEASE don't email that account - which was my ORIGINAL address. How can Apple be so backward in coming forward. I've gone through all of the hoops and cannot create a new user id and password. It is 2016 and I feel that I am back in 1996 or something
. HELP!!!!

iPhone 5c, iOS 9.3.1

You can create a new Apple ID and password but unfortunately apps and other purchases with the old id will remain associated with that id, sorry.

As this is a user to user forum only you could provide feedback to Apple here:   http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

This has nothing to do with Apple. Changing your user ID is not difficult.

First, sign your old ID out of iTunes, Messages, FaceTime, and iCloud.

Then go to: Apple - My Apple ID, sign in your old ID and password, then click on the EDIT button next to your User ID, and change the email address. Verify it. Once it is verified, sign that ID into all of the services.

    This is well documented:

    1. The forum you posted in is Appleworks, which is a for a now defunct Office suite Apple used to make. It has absolutely nothing to do with Your Apple ID. I'll request your post be moved to a more appropriate forum.

    2.  Apple is not here. This is a user to user forum.

    3. Creating a new Apple ID is simple, you can do so from https://appleid.apple.com/  by clicking on the Create Apple ID link below the icons.

Note, that all purchases remain tied to the Apple ID that made them and cannot be transferred to a new Apple ID, so it's best, to not actually make a new Apple ID, but simply update your existing Apple ID to use a new e-mail address.

    4. We do not email you at all. The forum system uses the E-Mail address set in your Apple ID profile to notify you of activity in these forums. If that E-Mail no longer functions, then its best to update it to a functional one.

You can update your E-Mail address agan from http://appleid.apple.com by logging into your acclount, and changing the E-Mail address there.
