Earlier responses pretty much answer the basics. You can also consider migrating the whole Windows PC as a virtual machine. That lets me run the best of what I need, and run programs not available on the Mac.

My preference is VMware Fusion but there are other good virtual machine hypervisor programs. VMware's converter tools are rock solid where I can depend on them to convert a PC or enterprise servers. I can't say anything bad about the VMware alternatives, and I know many people don't need the enterprise class features, support and capabilities you get with VMware.

The VMware software has little overhead where I can use it with my aging MacBook Air or much more powerful Retina 15.
