Q: Does OS X 10.5 support Classic OS 9?

I have a G4 powerbook running OS X 10.4.11 and Classic OS 9.2 and would like to upgrade to OS X 10.5.  Does anyone know if OS X 10.5 supports Classic OS 9.2?  I need to keep access to OS 9.2 as I have several CD's which only run under Classic OS 9.

Thanks,   Irvingbf

OS X 10.5 Leopard does not support Classic 9.2.

v10.5 Leopard may slow your Powerbook G4 down a bit. Better to stay at Tiger v10.4.11. I upgraded my Book G4 to v10.5 and reverted within a week.

Thank you for your answer.  I was afraid that was the case.  My next question answered by Neil answered the next question can the Powerbook G4 boot Os 9 directly, and he said the answer was NO.

    Thanks

There are some Powerbook G4s which support dual booting Mac  OS 9 & Mac OS X 10.5.  They are the  models ports on the rear and not the sides  that are 1  Ghz.

You can use SheepShaver on Mac OS X 10.5/PPC and on Intel Macs. It will run Mac OS up to version 9.0.4. Alternatively you can use the free download version of System 7.5.3 and update it to 7.5.5, or use an original Mac OS installation disc for use with SheepShaver. The only complicated thing is that you need to get a Macintosh ROM for SheepShaver to work.
