Q: iCloud Mail disastrous deletion after credit card expires?
My iPhone is backed up in iTunes completely to my computer regularly - I do not think of iCloud as a meaningful storage system or back up. iCloud is only useful to me for syncing email/contacts etc i.e. I am never bothered with backing up photos or other stuff to iCloud and the fact that I don't use wifi etc to back up and stream photos means that my iPhone 4S battery lasts for ages.
But I fear that disaster has struck…
My credit card expired and I received several requests to renew it but ignored them thinking that I don't actually need my phone backed up on iCloud. ( I was on the 25G 79p a month but used not even half .. though more than 5Gb)
Now a whole lot of essential email has disappeared from my Phone and Computer and does not seem recoverable. Is this the case? Can I get this email back or have Apple in their wisdom chosen to delete stuff that is ONLY ON iCloud????
I went onto my iCloud settings and deleted the bulk of my phone back up ( which I do not use: Photos I never back up to iCloud and other stuff I don't even need backed up). This freed up space for EMAIL .. which I have only discovered is the ONE THING that is only on iCloud - and the only thing that I really need.
