Q: Can I delete all my photos off my mac if they are all uploaded to iCloud?

I want to delete all my photos on my macbook air to get space.

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

    If there uploaded to iCloud will I lose them.

    After you enable iCloud Photo Library, any action on one device will be synced to all other devices. That includes deleting photos from your Mac. To save space, you can set your local Mac library to be Optimized, but you really should keep a full-resolution backup of your entire library off-cloud. iCloud is not designed as a backup service It's a syncing service.

     

    My advice: buy an external drive and keep your Photos Library there. Hard drives are very inexpensive now a days.
