My iPhone 5 rear camera is not working at all. It happened out of the blue and all the sudden I just see a blurried image that gets stuck. Can anyone help me, please?

Nothing worked for me until I installed QR Reader for iPhone. https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/qr-reader-for-iphone/id368494609

It must be something related to the permission settings.

    Cheers,

    Marco

No, doesn't  work for me. What will be the consumer warrenty on this? A device of €600,- shouldnt break down in 3 years right?

This was the only thing that worked for me. It's obvious it's a hardware issue by the overwhelming amounts of people getting replacements issued. I just squeezed on the top right corner of my phone with my thumb and pointer finger and it suddenly decided to start working! I hope this isn't an issue in the new iPhone SE. This was my girlfriends 5c and she is very accident prone so she constantly drops it. Would make sense how something can start having issues internally considering the corners of the device are the most likely to receive shock in a drop.

Hello Ariel. I tryed all of them, but none of them worked. Do you know what else could be wrong, or is my camera broken?

My iPhone 5 is 3 years, 5 months old. The problem started yesterday where the rear camera won't work in the camera app and in snapchat app. Then this morning even my front camera stopped working as well, but after I restarted my phone it worked again. However, the rear camera is still not working, I have tried installing the latest update iOS 9.3.2 (knowing that before that it was up to date), I also tried resetting all the settings, and restarting my phone, and pressing both home and power buttons at the same time, and the voiceover thing, but nothing works. I really doubt it's hardware because I haven't dropped it recently or anything. HELP! I am traveling tomorrow and I really want to take pictures with my phone...

I bought my iPhone 5s when it first came out, it didn't have much problems until the latest iOS update. My camera shows a black screen whenever I open it but the video, time lapse and slow motion features are functioning well. I managed to swipe the screen and the camera recovered but I could not switch the front and rear camera successfully. The only way to take pictures is to use burst. Apps like snapchat and FaceTime worked well so I really think it's a software problem. Any ideas on how to solve this problem for my case? Help would really be appreciated

    Apple: Fix it!

You're starting to be more and more like Microsoft!

If you're going to consistently push updates to my phone, so much so that it drives me bat**** crazy, make sure it works.

I keep hoping you'll restore my faith in the iPhone whenever you push an update, but it always results in loss of functionality, without fixing the camera.

Fix the camera issue already and no more "it's a hardware issue" excuses. I'll keep deleting future 9 updates unless it's specifically going to fix the rear camera issue. If it doesn't, after 4 generations of iPhone, I'll pull the plug and go to Android.

im going to enjoy watching your stock crumble, while Steve rolls around in his grave.

Smash the status quo, but conform to MS. Way to sell out.

I had the same issue..what happen was when I open camera its just black screen..front cam works..then i tried to use the flash it says phone is heating..wait to cool down..what I did was I dismantle the mobile using video guide..then check the ribbon point of camera is properly attached to the motherboard and found it was not properly attached. so i pulled it out and re attached..then it works fine for me..but make sure to be careful when you dismantle the mobile and removing the ribbon clips might damage to your mobile..also please don't do it if you have valid warranty with you..

iPhone 5s  OS 9.3.5  There were two updates in the past couple months ( August 2016/Sept.2016) ... not sure if that's what caused my camera to die ... Loaded Awesome Camera-Live Effects .. and it worked exactly as described by fablepd ... Many thanks!!!!

This worked for me.  I applied medium pressure to the camera area of the phone and it began working. Just lightly squeezed the front and back of the phone and it started working.
