Q: How to connect iPod nano to macbook?

How do I connect my iPod nano to my macbook, to add playlists to the nano?  Do I use the lightning port or the headphones port on the nano?

You use the Lightning port on the iPod, using the cable that came with it, which connects to the computer's USB port.  The only iPods that connect (for data syncing) using the headphones jack is iPod shuffle (2nd gen - 4th gen).

    What is your actual question?

7th Generation Nano to (early 2015 and later) MacBook: Lightning to USB-C adapter cable

(6th Generation Nano to (early 2015 and later) MacBook: 30-pin to USB cable, connected to a USB to USB-C adapter cable)

    - Note: I haven't shopped for a 30-pin to USB-C cable yet, so I don't know if such an animal exists.

7th Generation Nano to pre-2015 MacBook: Lightning to Lightning cable

(6th Generation Nano (and earlier) to pre-2015 MacBook: 30-pin to Lightning adapter cable)
