Q: iMac doens't boot after injection installation disc

I have a problem with my iMac. Because it has been used by many people for a long time, I wanted to get it back to it's original state.

After I putted the installation disc 1 in the computer, it didn't reboot. After a while I booted, but then suddenly hung up. This has been the case for a while now. One time I could start the re- installation process, but immediately after I chose the language settings it hang up again.

I also cannot get it to eject the disc, so I really don't know what to do.

Is there anybody who had the same issue, or knows how to help me?

Thanks a lot!

Greets,

Jeroen

You can try to restore your Mac to the factory settings.

First of all, save all the files you want to keep (photos, documents etc.) on a separate drive or in the cloud. Make sure you are connected to the Internet. After that, follow these steps:

    1. Restart your Mac. Once it restarts and the grey screen appears, press and hold the Command and R keys.
    2. Select Disk Utility and click Continue.
    3. Select your startup disk on the left and click the Erase tab.
    4. Choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the Format menu, enter a name, and then click Erase.
    5. Select Reinstall OS X, click Continue, and then follow the instructions on your screen

    Hi D.Cohen,

thank you for your feedback. But actually I have already tried this several times.

The issue is that the computer just stops working while following the steps you mentioned.

I think I have to find a solution to get the cd out of the tray, but I really don't know how.
