Q: Disable iTunes auto-launch

How can I prevent iTunes from launching automatically? When I connect my iPad to my mac (to charge it), iTunes and Photos launch. It is slow, heavy and distracting.

I know the question has been asked, and I read the answers, but I still don't know how to do it.

I don't have any devices and I also run an older iTunes so I can't check this myself. I would systematically go through all the iTunes preferences until you see one presenting an option to open or not open iTunes when a device is attached, e.g., https://discussions.apple.com/message/16483979#16483979

For iTunes:
iTunes > select your device > select the Summary view > Options > uncheck "Open iTunes when this iPad is connected"

For Photos:
Photos > select your device in sidebar > uncheck the box "Open Photos for this device"

How do I select my device? Mine does not say "Open photos for this device".
