DesktopsSo if you install 16GB and it does not work, Apple will not help you.
You need to buy from a Vendor who guarantees:
"It works in your Mac,
or your money Back!"
Like these:
OWC/macsales
Crucial
DataMemorySystems
if you do not have access to US market, please write back with your location, and Readers may be able to suggest vendors that are more accessible to you.

May 11, 2016 11:24 AM in response to rodfromsept-ilesby steve359,★HelpfulMy 2011 15 in MBP runs fine with Crucial 16 GB. In the past the worse Apple did was advise I put the original RAM back for any service. Which is less relevant now as my 2011 falls into "obsolete" in a few months and will not be serviced by Apple after that.
Back in 2011 8 GB SODIMMs were $1000+ if they even existed. Apple just never updated online spec sheets because they did not re-test old machine over the years for new memory-parts.

I will now ask another question about going to an ssd and ditching the hd.
Cheers to all.
