Q: iCloud password change

My husband changed his icloud password on his iphone that's also associated with our macbook. When I try to sign into my macbook's icloud account the with new password, I just get a spinning wheel, but it never processes, even though my husband gets an iphone alert with a verification code.

    Hey jlh908,

I understand that you are unable to access the iCloud account on your MacBook after an update. Let's see if we can get to the bottom of this.

It sounds like your husband enabled a two-factor authentication because of the passcode that he is receiving. Typically that would require you to have a more updated version of OS X. For system that are not running OS X El Capitan, you would just need to enter in the password followed by the passcode that was generated to access the account. Take a look at the information below for more details.

What if I use two-factor authentication on a device running older software?

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions, you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 or OS X El Capitan, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field.

Let me know if that is the case or if you are still having issues.

    Take care
