Q: Does selecting "I don't like this" in 'For You' suggestions actually do anything?

When I click "I don't like this" it doesn't seem to do anything. If I click it for a playlist, it doesn't remove the playlist. If I click it on a song it doesn't skip that song.

It also doesn't seem to indicate that I have selected that I don't like the track. So I'm not sure if the information is actually saved anywhere. And if I forgot that I clicked it and I click it a second time, what does that do? Is it like hearting something? What if I click "I don't like this" twice by accident, does that mean that Apple Music no longer thinks I don't like the track?

Is this a bug or broken functionality with Apple Music? Or is it secretly taking this into account for future suggestions and just not indicating that to me in any way? Thanks for reading!

    Hi Evolve Coaching,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I'm sure we can help you out with your question. As you surmised, Apple Music uses how you mark specific songs to further refine its future For You suggestions. For more information on this function, you may find the following article helpful:

As Brenden pointed out. The refinement selections you make are reflected in Future "For You" selections that are served up to you. Over time they become more and more refined. However, they do not change selections at that exact moment, at least not that you can notice in any meaningful way. It takes time for your refinements to be learned and then served up.

    Good Luck.....

Thank you for the response. It has answered part of my question, that this is the intended functionality and that selecting "I don't like this" is secretly taken into account for future suggestions, but does not actively do anything.

The other part of my question was what happens if I click "I don't like this" twice by accident? Does this take the track/playlist out of the "I don't like this" roster and place it back into the pool of possible 'For You' suggestions?

And is there any way at all to remove suggestions from the 'For You' tab so it doesn't get so cluttered with bad suggestions that is becomes nearly impossible to find new content to listen to?

    Thanks again.
