Q: Slow Samsung SSD 850 Evo

I just recently got a brand new Samsung SSD 850 EVO and installed it on my macbook pro 2009. Using OSX El Capitan.

But the Read and Write speeds that I am getting are:

Write: 209 MB/s

Read: 264 MB/s

and I should be getting around 450 MB for read and write at least. I have gone through changing the boot startup disk as well as trimming but did not help much.

 

Any Idea how I can solve this issue? Thank you.

2009 MBPs have SATA2 connectivity.  You will not be able to experience the full capability of the Samsung SSD.  You would need a 2011 MBP or newer to realize the full potential of that SSD. (That is when SATA3 connectivity was introduced.)
