Q: Mini displayport Display not detected via thunderbolt
I have the Late 2013 Mac Pro cylinder desktop , I recently purchased an ASUS predator super wide display. I can use the thunderbot to HDMI cable as usual but I only get 30hz and my monitor is capable of 75hz... My display has a mini displayport which is the exact same connector that connects to thunderbolt and I read that they are both compatible ... I bought a thunderbolt cable and connected the computer to the display and there is no detection , the monitor is not detecting the video signal and the computer is not detecting the display...... How do I fixe this issue and what are the reccomendations to get my display running at optimal performance using the mini display port or the larger display port which is also on the monitor ..... My mac only has 6 thunderbolt and 4 usb and one HDMIT ports .. HDMI is out of the question and so is USB , so what am I doing wrong and what do I need to do ?

Mini DisplayPort is a ThunderBolt Subset. It uses the same connector, but requires a MiniDisplayPort cable to run a display unless it is a bona fide ThunderBolt display.
Lots of sellers have no idea what they are selling. The cheapest ThunderBolt cable will be about US$40, the cheapest Mini DisplayPort to (full size) DisplayPort is around US$10.
