May 12, 2016 3:27 AM in response to dick the flickby dick the flick,Hi chaps
I've just had a chat with a great Apple Supervisor who took a look at my MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch (early 2015) using online access and suggested ... download :
http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
and run the "SCAN" program. I had a piece of malware AD software in there which I took out and so far no problem re-occurring.
If you want to try it and report in ... please do.
I will report back if the problem returns.

May 12, 2016 4:41 AM in response to dick the flickby StefanDesu,I really don't believe that Malware is the problem, especially when people report this happening on freshly installed devices. I did not have a single freeze (or any other problem) since I downgraded back to 10.11.3. Also the first freeze for me happened at the end of March, so after the 10.11.4 update.

May 12, 2016 7:08 AM in response to StefanDesuby Király,Just a word of caution to those considering a rollback to 10.11.3 to get rid of the freezes. You are opening up a whole bunch of security holes by doing that. Apple has published the whole list of them here: About the security content of OS X El Capitan v10.11.4 and Security Update 2016-002 - Apple Support
Proceed with caution.
Interestingly, 10.11.4 contained security updates to the video drivers for Intel and NVIDIA, as well as IOGraphics. Perhaps those security updates contained some bugs that are causing the freezes.

May 12, 2016 7:33 AM in response to Királyby StefanDesu,Well, that's unfortunate, but I can't properly work if I my system might freeze at any moment. It's a situation with no optimal solution...
How about updating to 10.11.4 and replacing the Graphics Driver with the one from 10.11.3? I don't know how hard that would be with the new System Protecting thing in El Capitan.
Edit: I don't want to say that the update to the Graphics Drivers are definitely the issue here, but it might be worth considering.

Thanks for warning us.
That means that Apple should better find a bugfix for the freezing issue in 10.11.4 very soon and most of all start to communicate frankly and openly with their users so that they can upgrade their Mac's without to be frightened.
I'm almost sure that 10.11.4 still contains a bunch of security holes that will be fixed with OS X 10.11.5 and/or Security Update 2016-003. And almost certainly also OS X 10.11.5 will still have a bunch of security holes that will be fixed with OS X 10.11.6 and/or Security Update 2016-004 .
Proceed with caution.

May 13, 2016 2:43 PM in response to Neystakby Renecek,Same problem here for about 1 week. Have opened only 3 tabs in safari... Safari freezes every 1-2 days, then macbook completely freezes and I must restart it. Quit and reopen safari doesn't help.
MacBook Pro Retina 15" (mid 2015)
2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 | 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 | Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
- have only 1 addon in Safari (1Password)
- have latest version of El Capitan (10.11.4)
- I tried to reset SMC & PRAM
- I formated hard drive and made clean install of El Capitan without restoring from Time Machine
- don't using flash plugin
Waiting for solution...

May 14, 2016 12:26 AM in response to Neystakby Maicá,God, I'm glad I found you guys.
I was suffering this problem for more than a month now. Whenever I checked the Console after every reboot, there were no explicit issues.
I had a feeling that I started to suffer these freezes after 10.11.4, then I waited for a quick update since I thought that a lot of people would be impacted. The update never came, which made me believe that I could be the only one.
So I took my macbook for repair, but the guys couldn't reproduce the freezes. I got my macbook back and boom, frozen once again.
I decided to format my macbook as a last resource last night. Now I'm clearly suffering the issue when trying to watch videos, along with the clear message in the console mentioning that the video decoder is stuck.
The point is that now the freezing circumstances are clear after formatting my macbook - this enabled me to find this thread. Probably the fact that I had VLC player before formatting was masking the diagnose somehow.
Nevertheless, I'm really upset with all this. I thought my macbook was defective and I was annoyed that I could not diagnose anything, neither the repair guys.

May 14, 2016 12:52 PM in response to ronnie19by Jaspal Kallar1,I have iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2010) i3. Same problem random freezes, I had to hard reset,
I had this problem daily when installed 10.11.4 about one and half months ago. It always seemed to be be with Safari when visiting web pages (often British online soccer) with video
However, I haven't had the problem for nearly 2 weeks now when I removed two USB cables usually attached to my iMac usb ports.
So maybe I'm clutching at straws but it's worth checking what cables you have attacked to your iMac ports.
The two usb cables attached were;
1. Usb to apple iPhone 4 connector cable (standard one I received from Apple with my iPhone 4)
2. A usb cable to a bank card reader e.g. on the right hand side in the picture below (provided by my bank with an accompanying card reader driver app)
