Q: Help with deleting everything off my old iPhone 5

What do you mean by it will not change on the phone? If you are using the same Apple ID on the old phone that you are using on the iPhone 6, did you trying signing in with the new password on the old phone?

Before you get rid of the phone, follow the instructions here in order to completely erase it.

May 15, 2016 12:22 PMby Demo,Settings>iTunes & App Store. Tap on the Apple ID that is showing and then tap Sign out. Then sign back in again. Enter your Apple ID, then enter the new password. That really should work. This is not dependent on your carrier at all. Are you still connected to WiFi on the Phone? You are going to need to turn off Find my iPhone in order to remove the activation lock.
The link that macjack posted for you explains how to refer the device and set it up as new again, but if the phone is still linked to your iCloud account, your son will not be able to set it up as his own.

Everything is now deleted, and then I went to my Apple ID "manage my account", and removed that phone from my account.. I hope it`s now ready for my family member!! You guys are the best, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!! Y`all ROCK!
