Q: I have not used FCP 7 for years. Now I have a small project and cannot launch FCP. I upgraded my Macbook Pro to El Capitan about 6 months ago.

I am running OSX 10.11.4. I have not used my FCP 7 in years and now find that it will not launch. Help, please.

What happens when you try to launch it?
When FCP begins to act in an unexpected way, the usual first step is to trash the FCP Preferences.
Download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) and it will do all the heavy lifting for you:
https://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/

Run it, and the next time you launch FCP your preference will be reset to default settings.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I downloaded and ran the preference manager, but no joy. I still cannot get FCP to launch, just the spinning color wheel of death until I force quit.
