Jan 11, 2013 4:02 PM in response to thremixby Technologyguy,Hello,
Splitting clips in iMovie on your iPhone 5 is actually really simple. Follow these steps to split your desired clip...
1.Open your project in iMovie
2.Go to the clip in your project where you want to split and make sure the clip is clicked on (outlined in yellow)
3.Swipe down with your finger quickly where you want the split to take place
I looked around the internet to help you and this is where I got the answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3181?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Hope this helps...

May 15, 2016 4:59 PM in response to Technologyguyby ericcartman,I know this is an old thread, but since I've spent a lot of time googling around and haven't found anything definitive, for the sake of anyone who ends up on this page in future, I don't think this works on an iPhone. iMovie for iPad and for iPhone is not identical. For example, you cannot show the audio waveforms on the iPhone version. And as far as I can see, you cannot split a clip either. I have a vague memory that it used to be possible, but could be wrong. The support document linked to says "iOS(iPad)". It's possible the functionality was there in earlier iMovie for iPhone versions, but has been taken out. I'd like to be proven wrong, because it's a major feature, but as far as I can see, this is currently the case.
