Q: Macbook Pro Serial # doesn't show up in search

Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a Macbook Pro but when I search for the serial number I get no results.

I'd like to see if it is legitimate and under warranty. I have tried the warranty search tool on the Apple website but no results.

I would basically like some advice, should I call Apple?

Yes, contact Apple support.
Contact - Official Apple Support
Also, it's not safe to reveal serial # in open forums, I've asked for it to be removed.

Hi,

I have a screen shot of the 'About this Mac' screen stating the serial number. I spoke to Apple on the phone this morning and they are unable to get any results from it also.. Does this mean the item is not legitimate and I should stay away?

Apple is the authoritative source. If they cannot solve your problem. certainly I can not either. My instincts tell me that the computer is real (not a counterfeit) but probably stolen. I say. stay away.
