    when you connect it by usb it shows up in my computer as a camera where you can copy out pictures

     

    if you install iCloud on the computer you get iCloud drive where you can pass files

    You can,also, sign up for and use other types of "cloud", offsite server storage services, like Dropbox.

    Also, for videos and images, there are wireless images transfer apps that use your local WIfi network to transfer images wireleesly back and forth between your iDevices and your computer.

    I use a very versatile one called Photo Transfer App.

    Transfers both video and images to other iDevices as well as to your computer and back to your iDevices
