Q: whenever i try to restore my iPod on iTunes, it shows that i need to open a file to do so. Can someone help me please.

whenever i try to restore my iPod on my computer, i click on iTunes, and then press restore. but then it shows that i need to open a folder or file to be able to restore. what do i do? i am on the latest update of iTunes.
