May 16, 2016 1:10 PM in response to Schrodinger56by Demo,On the iPad - Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen, then try to connect again.

May 16, 2016 1:11 PM in response to Schrodinger56by elcpu,Try a Forced Restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose anything.
Also please try to reset the Network Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.
You will lose the info for the previously connected networks but this step often resolves issues.

May 16, 2016 1:47 PM in response to Schrodinger56by elcpu,Do a forced restart on both devices, then change the pw to the hotspot on the phone, and try again. Otherwise about all that is left is a system restore.

May 16, 2016 2:14 PM in response to Schrodinger56by elcpu,I misunderstood. If the iPhone is brand new I would not do a restore. I would take it back to the store and ask them about it. The fact that the Android works with the iPad tends to indicate that the issue is with the new iPhone and since it is new I would get the store to either restore it or configure it for hotspot for you. A restore may or may not work and the issue could be hardware related.
