You can still load the airport utility into windows 10. please download and install it.

Plug the TC directly to the computer by ethernet. (If this requires removal of the TC from the network that is fine. Just plug it in with short patch cable).

    Factory reset the TC.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the hard disk doing this.

    Factory reset universal

Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.

N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.

Setup of the AC model TC should not be done from windows.. but you can still manage a basic setup. Just ignore the warning that you need a different utility.

Or do the setup from a Mac or ipad or iphone. For iOS stuff download the iOS version airport utility.

The IP of the TC will be 10.0.1.1 as that is default configuration. In windows explorer type into the address bar ..

    \\10.0.1.1

    It should work.

Are you using ethernet or wireless?

The airport utility should be able to find the airport.. if not it is possible you need to check if bonjour is running as service.

There are known issues between win10 and Apple airports.. as always these things do not hit everyone.. I have no issues getting access to the TC via win10.. so I cannot predict why you have issues.. I cannot reproduce your problem and I have several computers now around the house running win10.

I will need more info to help you further.. what modem do you have?

Please give me screenshots of the setup from a Mac airport utility .. and show me what is failing in the windows airport utility.

When you did the factory reset did you use all names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. same for the passwords.. but can be longer?? This is important for windows to work.

From your original post windows worked ok until you upgrade installed win10.. is that right??

Clean install win10.. no upgrade install works 100%.

    • When properly installed the AirPort Utility for Windows will have two applications listed in the Win10's Apps & Features window: 1) AirPort & 2) Bonjour
    • Move or delete the following file from the C:\Windows\System32 folder: dnssd.dll (Note: This is the Bonjour Client Library and is required by the AirPort Utility. If this file is missing would be the main reason the utility may not be working for you. However, even if is present, it may not be properly registered in the Windows Registry. That is, as far as Windows is concerned, it doesn't exist.)
    • Download the AirPort for Windows installer. (Note: This utility has not been updated since Windows 7. It will run on Win7, Win8, Win8.1, & Win10 but it will not work "well" with the latest 802.11ac AirPort base stations. It should be fine with the 802.11n models.)
    • Run the installer using "Run as administrator" privileges. (Note: If you get the option to Repair or Uninstall, choose the Uninstall option. Allow the uninstall process to complete. The Bonjour application should now be missing in the Apps & features listing.)
    • If you didn't get the Repair/Uninstall dialog window, then let the installer install AirPort for Windows in its default folder.
    • You should now be able to run the AirPort for Windows utility. Hopefully, with a clean install of this utility, it will allow you to share the TC's drive so you can access it from your PC.

Thank you tesserax! im gonna keep this for future situations. bonjour was missing, and i moved the file dnssd.dll away plus checked if bonjour was running as service, in this case it was not even running for some reason. my disk's are now detected and i can finnaly acces them again!
