Q: Thunderbolt Display won't come on

I have a MacBook Air 10.11.5 and a Thunderbolt 27" Display. Came home after being away 2 weeks to find some electricity off in our house. We have surge protectors on our computer equipment. After resetting breakers, electricity is restored but the Thunderbolt Display won't come on. It is not recognized by my computer. What to do?

Did you try unplugging the TBD from the wall, waiting 3 minutes and plug back in? Do this before connecting to your Mac.

Thanks. Yes, I had already tried that as well as a few other suggestions. Finally tried a tip to reveal a hidden button to "Detect Displays" under system preferences and that worked for me. My problem is now solved.
