May 18, 2016 2:14 PM in response to Samplexby elchdergrosse,Same here - very slow speeds to my Qnap-NAS (SMB) (also the mentioned 25Mbit . Before 10.11.5 I have had about 100Mbit).
Speed from my Windows10 machine is still ok => it is not a problem of the NAS.

May 18, 2016 3:20 PM in response to Samplexby kmurphy1,★HelpfulAt least you can still connect to an SMB share. 10.11.5 somehow broke that functionality on my Mac.
After updating to 10.11.5 I can no longer access shared folders/printers on network Windows PCs

May 18, 2016 4:43 PM in response to Samplexby Patrick Merel1,Same here on 2 devices, iMac and Macbook Air, right after the 10.11.5 update. I started to have difficulties to connect to my WDMyCloud NAS through SMB. Speed of listing directories, very slow; speed of file transfer, very slow. Even got a -36 error code that prevent from copying files to the SMB share. Weird.

May 19, 2016 1:50 AM in response to Samplexby bowyithaxe,This seems to be an issue in 10.11.5. There has been a security update to SMB in April, that was included in this OS update. Since i updated my Mac I wasn't able to access my SMB shares on my Apple TV (4th Gen). I had to downgrade to 10.11.4 because the steps I used didn't work (using a guest account to log in).
More info here Samba stopped working

May 19, 2016 4:38 AM in response to Samplexby BlueG6o,Same Problem here. Can't add any folder from my iMac or MacMini over SMB to my Sonos speakers. After installing a 10.11.4 Time machine backup on my iMac everything works fine again. To bad that i don't have a backup of my Mini. Hope Apple will fix this error quickly cause i don't want to make a clean install.

May 19, 2016 10:14 AM in response to Samplexby Krutsch,★Helpful+1 ... I am only able to access by changing the network protocol specifier from SMB to CIFS, but the speed is less than 1/2 of AFP access to a MD MyCloud share.
Doesn't Apple do even basic testing?

Thank you so much for the suggestion of switching from SMB to CIFS! I have not been able to access my shared folders for a few days now and it was driving me crazy. Switching to CIFS works (slowly) for me too. I'll be using that as a work-around until Apple fixes their SMB issues.
Now if only there was a workaround like this for shared printers...

May 19, 2016 12:19 PM in response to Samplexby ChisolmLee15,An old problem may persist / recur.
Also an old article, but with info re the "-36" error: "Snow Leopard and File Sharing Tips and Reports"
There, scroll down to " TIP: Another take on smb.config fix for -36 file sharing error: edit nsmb.conf for "streams=no" "
Also there: "TIP: Linux SMB fix for -36 error works for OS X Server; and fix for 2 GB file copy limit"
And: "Reader confirms smb.conf edit fix for -36 SMB errors"
And: "TIP: An easier way to turn of streams to fix -36 error on NAS"
And: "TIP: Use Path Finder as another workaround for NAS error -36"
The Mac uses Unix permissions (rwx-rwx-rwx "read write execute" thing) and Access Control Lists ("ACLs"), while the Windows device uses ACLs. Sort-of-collisions or disagreements between which are in use for the data you are transferring, can slow down or stop altogether, the transfer of files / folders.

May 21, 2016 8:31 AM in response to Samplexby Patrick Merel1,I confirm, use of pathfinder instead of finder helps moving files from and to my smb share (wdmycloud). Temporary fix. Apple should communicate about a regular fix!!!
