Q: macbook keyboard stop working

my macbook keyboard keeps stopping working completely it has happened on several occasions and it is getting on my nerves. I shut the laptop down and most times it works fine otherwise i turn it off again and then it does. Why does this keep happening, i have never dropped or damaged my laptop, it is very precious to me! what do i do to fix this?
