Q: Recurring alarm shuts off in the middle of the night: iPhone 6 v9.3.2

iPhone 6 v9.3.2

I have a recurring alarm that has worked consistently for years. I recently had to restore my iPhone, and finally got it back up and running, including having all my recurring alarms appear in the list. But now, the recurring alarms shut off sometime every night between midnight and 6am. When I wake up in the morning, they are switched to the off position. If I turn them back on, and check them before bed, they are definitely on, but switch themselves off in the middle of the night. I have 2, one at 6:10 and 1 at 7. I tried deleting them and re-adding them, deleted all alarms, changed parameters - nothing works. Every night for the past 2 weeks, they shut themselves off.

As you can imagine, I rely on my clock. Any ideas?

    Hi there PeterTricopter,

It sounds like you are confirming that the alarms are indeed enabled but they some how turn themselves off in the middle of the night. I would recommend starting by quitting the Clock apps:

Force an app to close in iOS

    1. Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps.
    2. Swipe left to find the app you want to close.
    3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:

iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If it persists can you delete one of them and recreate it to see if somehow the alarm data was corrupted during the restore? To delete an alarm tap Edit at the top:

The Alarm screen, with the Edit button in the upper-left corner and the Add button in the upper-right corner. Four horizontal bands display alarms for four purposes with on/off toggles for each alarm. Along the bottom, from left to right, are the World Clock, Alarm, Stopwatch, and Timer tabs

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities, all the best!

Already did this, but I'll do it again. Deleted all of my alarms and recreated them. Will try tonight and then report back.

Well, did this. It worked the first night. The second night, it did it again. See the screenshots of the night before at 1am and the next morning when I woke up late. Because my alarm didn't go off. IMG_4455.PNGIMG_4460.PNG

Thank you for the followup! At this point this seems to me to be an issue with the iOS in general, as there is no setting that will cause this to happen. I would next backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works.

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself. This should lead you to a resolution.

Deleted all alarms, did one more backup, then erased and restored from backup. Same thing last night. Does this mean there is something wrong with my backup file? This is an infuriating problem. thanks for your help.

Are you saying everything worked when you restored as new but then started failing again when you restored from your back up? If so, yes, that might indicate a problem in your back up.

Are you using the built in alarm tones? Or are you using music? There have been reports that using music sometimes interferes with recurring alarms, which would definitely be a bug.

If you're using music, try the built in tones and see what happens.

I'm using an iPhone 6 and recurring alarms with no problems.
