Q: Youtube video plays a half of a second then goes to endless buffering at 720p

Hello!

I'm having problems with youtube. Some of the videos are not playing. When I start it, it plays for a half of a second and then goes to endless buffering circle.

The problem appears not at every video, some plays ok, but others not. When I was trying to play it by chrome, it's ok, but safari stucks.

I faced this problem a month or two ago.

Also when I change the quality to 480p it continues to play, but when I switch back to 720p, it goes to endless buffering. I was trying to change the agent in development to chrome (and any other) but it did not work.

The example of a problem video:

I'm using MBP mid 14, OSX 10.11.5

Flash player was updated today.

MacBook Pro

If you have problems opening webpages, take a look at these troubleshooting techniques suggested by Apple.

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204098

Go to Safari menu (At the very top right side of your screen next to Apple icon), choose "Quit Safari"

press "Shift" button and while holding this button on your keyboard single click on the Safari icon on your Dock.

Open Safari - Preferences - Privacy - Remove All Website Data.

Open the Go menu with Option (Alt) key pressed - Library - locate Safari folder and move it to your desktop. Restart your Mac, open Safari and delete the folder from your desktop.

Also, you may try these steps:

    Restart your Mac.

    Try Safe Boot:

    - Shut down your Mac

    - Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the Power button

    - Right after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key

    - Release the Shift key when you see a grey Apple sign and the progress bar below this sign

    - After your Mac boots up, restart it as you usually do.

If this doesn't help, follow the instructions below:

    - Shut down your Mac

    - Wait until your computer turns off and after that press the Power button

    - Right after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key

    - Release the Shift key when you see a grey Apple sign and the progress bar below this sign

    - Once you see Desktop, start a Disk Utility scan to detect and repair file system errors (don't forget to choose your main hard drive)

    - Click on Verify Disk and then, if asked to fix problems, on Repair Disk

    - After this, click on Verify Disk Permissions and then on Repair Disk Permissions

    - After the process is finished, shut down your Mac and turn it back on after about 30 seconds

    Hope this helps!

Try going to Safari/Preferences/Extensions and disable all extensions, If the problem is corrected, turn the extensions on one at a time until you locate the extension causing the problem.

I've done all suggested workarounds but nothing helps. Exept my Safari goes mad and now causes freezes and lags. And now all the videos became a slideshow.

I've reinstalled flash player again. Still no.

    Please any other suggestions?

Update: After multiple reboots slideshows are gone, but the initial problem is still there.

I've recorded a screen capture to show the problem (not monetized unlike the example video):

Ok, if you have the same problem, I found some workaround.

But this works for your own videos only.

Edit the video with standard youtube editor, tweaking it a little bit, let's say -1 saturation, or something that is not so noticeable , then save.

After the processing will be completed, the video plays ok.
