Q: why have apple decided to update itunes and lose all my playlists

I have had enough of Apple and its itunes updates today it removed all my disc music but funnily enough not the stuff i have bought on itunes

Thats the last piece of music i ever buy from Apple controlling freaks

Has anyone else had this issue

All the customer service says did you back up your computer that is the way to make the onus on you well why has it worked ok for the last 3 years till today

It makes me mad listening to them blaming us for the fact that they cant explain why my music that i have bought over the last 40 years on record disc has been removed from the computer that i have bought and paid for from them ( APPLE )

So does anyone have an idea how i get my music and playlists back

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

What happened was iTunes lost track of all your media files. Then it re-downloaded the ones you have purchased.

This happens to a fraction of a percentage of users with every upgrade.  Do you drive a car?  Have you had any accidents? No? Does that mean you can never have an accident?  Does that mean you do not carry insurance?  That is why you have a backup.  I can understand you being annoyed but having a backup has been like carrying insurance when owning a house or car.  Even if you are a perfect driver you have insurance in case an uninsured person hits you.  In theory nothing should happen to your computer or files but there's millions of things happening with software all designed by different people and just like a crowded highway something will happen.
