May 18, 2016 10:46 PM in response to Papa JWC 112by Kenichi Watanabe,"Nothing"? Does the iPod appear in iTunes when you connect it?
When you connect the iPod, watch the iPod's screen. Does it say "Do not disconnect" or "Connected" or give other indication of a connection? Or does it only show the battery charging symbol? Or does it not react at all to being connected?

May 19, 2016 7:31 AM in response to Kenichi Watanabeby Papa JWC 112,The IPod screen shows it is connected, the computer has an icon showing a connected device and the iTunes app shows the device. However, when I try to sync, that option is grayed out and won't work.

If you want to use automatic syncing, you need to set the iPod to Sync Music. It may be set currently to use the Manually manage music [and videos] setting.
Select the iPod in iTunes (click its device button on horizontal bar) to show its settings screen in iTunes window. In the latest iTunes, it looks like this (device button circled in red).
After clicking device button, you see the iPod's settings screen in iTunes window. Along the left side (in the sidebar), under Settings, click Music. To the right, the iPod's Music settings screen is shown.
NOTE: Any songs on the iPod that are not in your iTunes library (on the computer) will be lost.
Checkmark the box for Sync Music. This turns ON automatic syncing. If your iTunes music library can fit on the iPod, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library. Otherwise, choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Then make your selections from the lists below. For example, you can maintain (one or more) playlists in your iTunes library with songs you want on the iPod. Back on the iPod's Music settings screen, under Playlists, select (checkmark) those playlists. Click Apply to sync your music library (or selected portion of it) to the iPod. Going forward, iTunes keeps the iPod "in sync" with changes to your music library (or selected portion of it) the next time you connect it (or click Sync if already connected).
If that's not the problem, please post back with more details.
