Q: Battery drain issue

i have the latest software on my iPhone/watch. Lately my watch started behaving really weird, the battery drains in 11 hours completely, even though the watch are not used. If u check the usage in Apple Watch app, it would tell me that almost all of the time the watch were used.

after re-pairing/restoring watch the battery works just fine (>2 days in standby), until I set up watch faces/ install the apps etc (battery again goes under 9-10 hours).

AS long as I re-pair/restore watch they work just fine but I cant be doing that all the time. Is there any way to fix this issue until the next watchOS version comes out ? I don't have any fitness apps on them, and yes i tried restarting devices 1 million times.

    Jonathan,

    I tried all the things, I actually removed exchange from my phone and unpaired and repaired the watch.

    The watch battery starts draining the minute it connects to the phone. I got a new watch as well and linked it to the phone as a new watch and it drained over night.

    The only way the battery holds is if I switch off the Bluetooth on the phone and even better if I put the watch on flight mode.

    Any other suggestions?

    I just updated to WatchOS 2.2.1 and have noticed rapid depletion of battery. My research indicated this was possibly an Exchange issue, so I removed that account and reenabled, but am still having the issue. Could this be related to the latest OS build or is it something else?

    Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    The following steps have helped to resolve battery life issues for some users:

    • Restart both your iPhone and your watch:
      • Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first;
      • To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;
      • To turn it on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

    For the best performance from your watch, keep both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth permanently enabled on your iPhone.

    Also, if you have ever previously used a third-party app (eg Strava) to record workouts, check whether there is presently a paused activity within the app on your watch. If there is, end the activity within that app on your watch (not your iPhone).

    I have both restarted and unpaired the devices, but the problem still persists. I currently have zero third party apps installed. How do you force close apps on the watch and how do you know what is running?

    Thank you.

    I purchased my  Apple Watch less than three weeks ago. Took it back at the two week mark having a battery drain issue as well. They exchanged out my watch. Still experiencing the same problem with the new watch. I have been trying to get answered as well before I take this one back and read on a Mac forum that someone started having the problem as soon as they started using Apple Pay.  I know my next step will be deleting Apple Pay  and see if I have any luck.  Not sure if any of this information will help you, but I'm posting and hopes to help someone else. Fingers crossed!
