Q: Updating FCS2

Hello everyone. I uninstalled FCS2 and did a clean reinstall. I was curious how do I go about updating FCS2 to 6.0.6. I  can't find it on my preferences. I'm a little bit confused it use to be located under that application.

Just to clarify: You want to install FCP 6 on an El Capitan system?

You can try under SOFTWARE UPDATE...but this is one of those dangers of installing very old, discontinued software on brand new OS versions. The pathway to the update might not be available anymore. We did it via SOFTWARE UPDATE before...or you downloaded the stand alone updates.  Not sure if the new OS will find the update for that...you can try. You can also try to google the "FCP 6.0.6 update." or "proapps update final cut studio 2."

All Apple downloads and software updates are available, just not for purchasing most older EOL apps. If you have already installed the app, you can update to the latest version for that program version.

Try here and enter Final Cut Pro 6.0.6… Apple - Support - Downloads

    or here…Apple - Support - Downloads for 6.0.6

    Hope this helps, Greg

Greg when i try these options (and by the way thanks) I can't download them to my computer because this window pops up with this
    warning.

ProApplicationsUpdate2008-05mpkg can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the mac App Store and identified developers

Would it be wise to adjust my security preferences to allow this open and update FCP 6

Ironic that your Mac doesn't recognize a download from an Apple site, isn't it?

Apple implemented SIP as a security measure to protect you. The old coding in FCP legacy does not include the needed identifiers for developers, so yes you need to temporary change the security and privacy preferences in System Preference to allow apps downloaded from anywhere. You can switch back after you download and install the updates.

    Hope this helps, Greg
