Q: unable to Quit Numbers

I'm trying to install some routine updates but I get a message telling me to quit numbers first. However, when I go to the Numbers File menu, the option for Quit Numbers is grey not black. In fact, this has prevented me from shutting down at night for the last few days.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Hello eicharen,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

 

If you're unable to quit an app normally, then you can force it to close.  

 

 

  1. Choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, or press Command-Option-Esc
    (this is similar to pressing Control-Alt-Delete on a PC).
  2. Select the unresponsive app in the Force Quit window, then click Force Quit.
