Q: Mac stuck at grey screen -tried it all!
I have a Macbook Pro from 2011. I bought a new one a year ago because the old one had a constant grey screen.
Now I kind of want to sell my old Mac either as a functional computer or for parts. So my goal is to actually delete all of my own data! However that is not possible because I simply can not start up the **** thing.
I tried it all. All the steps...cmd -r, cmd -s, reset PRAM, Utility desk, CD start up...EVERYTHING I can possible find online.
It does not respond at all.
When I turn it on the wheel and logo comes out on a grey screen. After a while the screen turns grey and it is stuck. If I close it the grey screen is still on and the engine is running on a high level. I have to force it to turn off with the on/off.
I dont completely remember, but I think there is a start up CD in the computer now. It sounds like it is running and trying to read it. But it wont eject of course. Or start up with the CD.
It "died" suddenly a year ago and if it does get fixed it might just open up on the internet page I was on or the document I was making. Dont remember...but would rather not have anyone look through that.
At this point I just want to delete it all. Not save anything...I have a backup...just DELETE. How??? Should I trust, that the spare part buyer guy doesn't use it for evil??
Please help
