Q: Monitor problems

I have a mid 2010 MacPro running what ever the Maverick update pushed out last week. I switched out my Vizio 370MV TV connected as a second monitor with a Vizio M43C1. I had no problems with the old TV. When the new TV is turned on or off the main monitor goes black for a couple seconds then comes back. I cna live with that. The main problem is when the TV is on the main monitor has a flashing image mostly when the mouse is clicked or a keyboard input. This flash looks to be part of the desktop image. I have tried different HDMI ports on the TV with no change. The image on the TV is fine. Any thoughts on why I get a bad image on the main monitor when the TV is on?

When the new TV is turned on or off the main monitor goes black for a couple seconds then comes back.

That is a feature intended to tell you that a new display is being started up.

It was the bottom of the line MacPro so I am assuming it is the Radeon HD5770 graphics card. I can check tonight when I get home. I have a DVI to HDMI adapter to an HDMI cord. It has been along time since I purchased the adapter but I think it came from Monoprice. The only thing that I changed was the TV none of the cabling. I will admit the HDMI cable exceeds the HDMI spec but I did not have any problems with it on the old TV.
