May 19, 2016 8:28 AM in response to Ana Aguila-Reyesby ERV77,I recently upgraded to El Capitan and like you use FCP 6.0,6. For the last couple weeks I've been on this forum figuring out options to get back to where I was prior to upgrading to El Capitan. FCP 6 or FCS 2 isn't exactly compatible. I recently uninstalled and reinstalled FCP6 and today I going to update FCP6. If you upgrade to El Capitan your going to be forced to upgrade but if your happy where you are I wouldn't install El Capitan on the same system that you have FCP6 installed. I guess the question I would ask myself is which one of those programs are more important to me right now. In my case I've been scrambling for a couple weeks trying to figure out a resolve other than doing a complete uninstall and reinstalling an older OS X Operating System. I hope this helps.

May 19, 2016 2:10 PM in response to ERV77by Ana Aguila-Reyes,Thank you so much for your info. It makes sense what you're doing with FCP 6. It seems that to keep 6 there are a lot of workarounds. Im going to do more research on FCP. I love using FCP 6, but perhaps upgrading to FCP X would be an option in order to have El Capitan. I don't like X so it's only an option. But for now, I'll keep everything as is. have you thought about upgrading to FCP X? Perhaps it will be easier than going back to an older OS version?

May 21, 2016 4:25 AM in response to Ana Aguila-Reyesby Russ H,Consider partitioning your start-up drive. Install 10.11 on the new volume. Leave FCS 2 apps on your current OS, where it is stable. If you're curious about FCP X, there is a fully functional trial version. Before downloading I'd recommend taking a look at some video tutorials because it's quite different than FCP 6/7. There are some short (and free) videos here by way of example.
@ERV: Curious how you installed FCP 6 and related FCS apps on El Capitan. I've seen a number of methods posted, but am unable to test first hand.
