Q: Why was I unable to post a question using Safari?

I was able to subsequently use Chrome to post the question. BUT it took several tries to post this question using Chrome!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.0.x)

There are known glitches with the software used to host this site. You're not the only person to occasionally experience problems posting a question or reply.
