Q: iPhoto won't let me Drag and Drop

Currently using el capitan and i wanted to use some photos in iMovie. Since i can't load them directly i always drag and drop them to the desk top. I get an error message "Could not load image 1,019.  If i try to export the picture i get The file " Img_1385.jpg" couldn't be opened because there is no such file.  I can't edit them either.   Any ideas other than rebuilding the library.  I already did that twice.  I also right clicked on the hard drive and made sure i had permission.  Use small words because I'm not that great with computers.

What do yo have stored on the drive?  Is there a system on that drive.   That would cause the checkbox to not be available.

Or is that drive used for Time Machine backups?  That could also be why there's no ownership checkbox.  If that is a Time Machine backup drive it should not be used for general storage and usage.

With the privileges set as they are don't worry about the ownership issue.  You can still use it except for the TM issue.

I'm guessing it's still seen as a TM drive.  Copy the file off of it that you need to keep and repartition the drive to 1 volume with the formatting discussed above. Copy your files back to it, open iphoto and then try to access the library from iMovie again.

how about this, since its 1.24tb of info i can just move pictures which is 224gb to another hard drive.  then load from that drive and see if it works.  if it doesn't i don't have to move it back i can just delete it.

ok so heres where i am at.  i finally got it to move back to the internal hard drive where it started.. still have the same problem.  i did randomly go through the photos and videos and some will work and some won't.  it doesn't matter the device it came from.  just a guess, but which ever folder has the links must have some corrupted files.  can i just restore that folder from time capsule.

what happened, nobody has any ideas ? I'm still stuck and would like to get this fixed.  how about restoring from time capsule ? i now have two copies one on my external hard drive and one on the internal hard drive, can i just try restoring it to one and see what happens or is that unwise ?  I've never used the time machine restore function.

I restored it from the oldest file i have on one of the hard drives. i moved each file over separate and didn't use the time capsule restore button. it didn't fix the problem. i also have the actual time capsule which I'm going to try next.  Here's hoping.  Any ideas ?

Used time capsule and restored it.   then ran repair, because it makes you, AND the same results.  I can't believe there aren't  more ideas ?   I actually stumped ya'll.  Well at least i found a work around for the pictures. I have no idea what will happen when i sync my iPad.

If Photos cannot find the file then your Library is corrupted. Try post that on the Photos forum, where people who know that app hang out. This is the iPhoto forum, an entirely different app.
