Q: FCPX won't update an older FCPX project. What does the folder need to look like for it to recognize it?

The project folder/files need to be in a Folder named Final Cut Projects, which can be located in the user's Movies folder – or at the root level of a non start-up disk.

It should have updated. Do you have an Event named Updated Projects in your Library list? If you do, see if what you're looking for is there?
