Q: Cannot download updates since changing my Apple ID (change of email address

Although I have changed my Apple ID at the App Store and the updated ID appears on my account there it is not accepted when I attempt to download updates.

    This is the proper way to change an email associated with an Apple ID.

    If you didn't do this, but instead made a new Apple ID you are out of luck, content is forever tied to the Apple ID with which it was bought. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to anothert and Apple does not combine Apple IDs.

    I went through all the proper procedure and my account at the App Store shows my new ID but no luck with downloads.

    I am asked to sign in using my Apple ID and password.  My old ID already is in place.  I have replaced it with new ID and my password and am answered with "either you ID or password is incorrect".  I have left the old ID and tried every password I can think of and same result.  One time, strangely, it did go through and I did download an update but it hasn't happened again.

    Can you go to the Store menu in the control bar and sign out of the Apple ID. Then sign in again?
