Q: iPhone 6 plus intermittent unresponsive screen

So a couple days ago, my iPhone 6+ began having intermittent screen responsiveness. First time, I received a phone call and couldn't answer it because the swipe wouldn't work. I turned it off and back on with no luck. I reset it and that fixed it. That was the only issue that day. I the last few days it's becoming more frequent. Today alone I've had to reset it eight times.

What it's doing;

  • touch screen is unresponsive to touch entirely.
  • touch screen responds after a delay
  • I tap an app icon and the app two rows up opens instead.
  • from loch screen-can't answer phone calls or notifications.

Sometimes it just leave it alone and come back to it and it's fine. Sometimes I leave it alone and come back with same result and I have to reset it. Sometimes I reset it once and trying to unlock with touchscreen (because touch ID doesn't work after reset) doesn't work so I reset it twice. It has worked after the second time, so far.

The phone is in perfect condition. Never been dropped. Was updated to 8.3 the day it was released so the issue didn't arise immediately after an update.

Anyone having these issues?

I keep reading how people list all their Apple devices and then threaten to never buy Apple again (I'm guilty of this too), but I can't help but imaging how much laugh Apple must be getting out of it. After reading most of this thread, and analyzing Apples response (i.e. none), here are my conclusions:

    1) Apple doesn't care

    2) Apple will happily take your money now to give you a refurb that might also fail

    3) Apple knows that, despite your complaining, whining, and threatening, you will crawl back on your knees with big wads of cash in hand to buy more Apple products.

Let's face it - the problem concerns a previous gen device, not even a current one. Fixing of this problem will generate "zero" additional sales. In fact, iPhone 7 release is probably right around the corner. Will fixing a bad batch of iPhone 6 Plus have any influence on sales of 6s, 6s+, or 7? Probably not, or perhaps even lower them because people will hold on tot 6+ longer. I'm sorry, it's not a solution, but it's probably the truth.

Up until my issues with the iPhone 6 I was happy with Apple products but after what I've read and experienced with the touch issues I know won't be "crawling back" (http://i.imgur.com/fFLVETx.jpg).

I'm happy to hear that you've been a happy customer until you were met with this issue. This is your first time being disappointed by Apple, you say? Enjoy your new phone

I Won't be crawling back either.  I understand that electronics can fail,  but they could have at least stood by their warranty and stood behind their repair.   Didn't even get 9 months out of mine and that would have been fine if the replacement had been a good phone.  Same exact problem out of the box and that wouldn't have bothered me if they would have replaced it,  but all i got was the remainder of my warranty revoked

Am having the same intermitent problem. Horizontal gray flickering line at the top of the screen. Unresponsive/frozen screen. Called APPLE Support. Restored phone to new using Itunes. Still have the problem. Temporarily unfreezes phone if you squeeze phone from the sides inwards. Problem getting worse. One time forgot to put phone in airplane mode while watching movie. Alarm went off and couldnt turn it off because phone was frozen. OMG! The boos and jeers that I got. Embarrassing. Finally brought phone to GENIUS BAR Stanford Shopping Center. Was told it's a common problem among 6 pluses. And my options are 1.) Keep the phone and suffer with the problem 2.) replaced the phone by paying $300+ 3.) upgrade to a new phone but will have to shell out more money/dinero/pera/moolah. In all these options, I have to suffer. Why would I have to shell out more money after spending around $900 on this piece of......................."art"?! And it's not even 2 years old. But just got out of warranty. Was planning on keeping it for a long time because I thought APPLE is synonymous with quality. I'm not experiencing quality right now. Currently, I own a Macbook Pro, Ipad Air and this Iphone 6 plus (my 2nd Iphone). As you can see, Im an Apple-ian(?), Apple-er(?), Apple-ist(?).  But with this experience and the treatment I'm getting? Am seriously thinking of defecting. Apple, this is not good customer service. This is not good business. You know the problem is widespread. And you know there is a defective part. And you want us to shell out more money for something that is not our fault. Not right.

Well I got sick of messing with mine. I bit the bullet. After going into a Apple store, and basically was told Apple isnt worried about the "few" of us having the problem, I went and bought my first Samsung phone. It will be the beginning of the purge of Iphones off my contracts. When I was at the Apple store, they told me most people just upgrade their 6+ to the 6s+. I didnt want to give Apple the satisfaction of making a profit from me, after not standing up for a known problem.  Had this happened 6 months later, I probably would have just got the new iphone 7. I was actually surprised to hear most people just upgrade to the 6s+, after Apple basically telling you ***** to be you, and then people drop another $800+ to them, not this guy!

Diddo, two  iPhone 6➕'s... Same unresponsive screen❗️

I tried hard resetting it many, many times and restored it but eventually came back. Was able to swap out at Apple Store no questions asked.

Its been 7 months with new iPhone 6+ and running into an unresponsive touchscreen with new iPhone.

Bad news is my warranty ended so Apple will not replace.

I CERTAINLY WILL NEVER SUFFER WITH THE QUALITY OF APPLE'S IPHONE, COME OUT OF POCKET ($$$), OR UPGRADE WHICH =$$$...

Been thinking of going with Android for a couple years now and think it may be time to ditch the Apple.

Add me on as another using that's facing the exact same issue.  White/gray bar at the top of the screen, intermittently unresponsive touchscreen.  I'm having to flex my phone just for it to work for a few seconds before having it go unresponsive again. I hope apple can make it right.

I Had this issue with 3 of my 6 plus.... First phone was replaced under a year for free, second was my replacement that failed again in about same amount of time but I had to pay $350 to replace.... Now it's happening to my girlfriends phone. They are both 128g and well taken care of. I've had  tons of  IPhones, iPads, and Macs, never had an issue with any of them but believe this one was poorly made and bends in my pocket. Phone works after bending and manipulating  but shows no damage. I think a phone I pay $1000.00 for should last a pretty long time and not stop working in less than a year from normal use. Wait it gets better, I was making breakfast today and brother in law called... He's got the same issue. Its got to be the design... I feel ripped off, don't replace for same phone or its gonna happen again.

Happened to me also. No abuse of the phone, no water, nothing extreme. Pressing on the back where the connectors for the FPC works but its getting harder and harder to fix it with this method. Great phone other than that.

This is exactly what I have on my 6plus. It just started over the weekend. Phone is in a hard case and always with screen protector on the glass. There is 0 bending on the phone. I am thinking it must be something due to connections inside as when you bend the phone gently it corrects itself and it all goes away. For few minutes that is. Extremely disappointed as this is my 3rd replacement for my initial 6 plus that I purchased when they first came out. I truly wish Apple would stand to its name and get this fixed for all of us. Unacceptable in my opinion for company with such history and name.

To provide an update. My phone is out of warranty so after getting tired of pressing edges of my phone to get it to work, I removed the screen and simply, gently pressed all of connector pins into their place. Closed the phone, and rebooted. Phone works perfectly. Simple solution for such annoying glitch. I'll keep you posted with any changes but it's been working great for past 24 hours.
