How do you store your photos on your MacBook Air?

If you use a photo application like iphoto or Photos, you can simply delete the iPhoto Library or the Photos Library.

The photo libraries will be in your Pictures folder by default.

You can find all photos in your Home Folder by selecting your Home folder in the Finder,

    • then enter ⌘F for "Find".
    • In the Find panel set "Search" to the name of your Home folder. On no account search "This Mac" this way. It would also shows photos embedded in applications and used by the system.
    • Set the search constraint to "Kind" is "Image".

This search will show all images in your home folder and subfolders of your home folder.

But do not delete any photos sight unseen. This search will reveal all your Mail attachment as well, also photos inside photo libraries or in documents.

Use it one to get an idea where photos might be hiding.  Clicking one of the photos found will show you the enclosing folders in the path bar at the bottom of the search window
