I understand that you are trying to create some video's with screen recordings along with a voiceover. I can help you out with that.
Now when setting up your screen recording, you do have the option to choose a microphone so you can talk and create the video at the same time. This would reduce you adding the clip after the fact. Take a look at the first link below that will go over how to accomplish this.
Record your screen

Now if you want to add the audio over the video that you have already created, consider using iMovie. You can import the video and during playback, you can record your audio on top of the video. Take a look at the next article for more details on how to accomplish this.

Servers EnterpriseThe answer from Rysz covers recording your own voice from an external audio source e.g. a microphone. If however you want to record the system audio i.e. what the Mac itself is outputting then QuickTime Player itself cannot do this.
It used to be that installing SoundFlower a third-party audio redirection tool solved this but it seems to be discontinued and had problems with the SIP security feature of El Capitan.
An alternative to SoundFlower which is El Capitan compatible is LookBack from Rogue Amoeba. See - https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/
