Q: Notes created on iPhone 4S not syncing to MacBook Pro

Notes created on my MacBook Pro are syncing to my iPhone.

But Notes created on my iPhone are not syncing to my MacBook Pro. I'm worried that I might eventually lose the Notes on my iPhone if I don't find a way to sync them.

There used to be a setting in iTunes for syncing Notes, but I don't see it anymore.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Notes will not sync via iTunes. You need to use either iCloud or some other IMAP mail service. To use iCloud, open the iCloud preference pane and sign in, then check the box marked Notes. Do the equivalent on the phone.

If you upgraded your iCloud notes on El Capitan, you need IOS 9 to do the same on the iPhone.

Many thanks to both of you, Linc and Eric.

As it turns out, Notes is already set to sync via iCloud on both my iPhone and my MacBook Pro, and I always keep my iOS as current as possible (right now I'm running 9.3.2).

If any other ideas occur to you (or anyone else reading this), please do reply.

    Thanks, again!

You are welcome.  In Notes, have you selected upgrade iCloud Notes on both the computer and the iPhone?

Try going to iCloud.com to see if the items are there and whether they are from the device or the computer. That should show whether the device or the computer isn't syncing. If the computer, try going to System Preferences/iCloud and stop syncing. Wait a couple of minutes, then recheck syncing. If the device, go to Settings/iCloud and do the above. You can also try signing out of iCloud and then sign in again.

    Thanks, Eric.

I think the "On My iPhone" setting is causing the problem, but I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions? See below:
