Q: Stop mac from jumping to newly opened apps
Hi, I have recently made the switch from Windows to Mac, and one thing that really seems to bother me is: say i'm in chrome in fullscreen mode, I open an app like word, and go back to chrome while I'm waiting for word to open in the background, I'll be doing something on chrome when out of a sudden word pulls me back to desktop because it opened word.
Same happens when I plug in my iPhone which automatically opens photos and iTunes which in turn steals focus from my other apps i'm already on making me curse because I am usually working on something important on other apps but I am constantly dragged away because the mac thinks it's a good idea to show me photos...
I have tried unchecking the first 3 options in preferences>mission control, I have tried the command line and kill all dock, I have tried looking for the option myself in preferences to no avail, this is frustrating and such a feature should be toggle-able, this is the kind of customisability windows is doing right and mac is doing horribly wrong.
So please, how do I stop newly opened apps from stealing focus from apps I'm already on, and how do I prevent iTunes and photos to open automatically when I plug in my iPhone, if I wanted to open photos and iTunes I'd do that manually, when I feel like it.
Thank you for your time
MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)
