May 22, 2016 5:04 AM in response to JDKIIIby Mike Sombrio,Your Macbook doesn't use Apple Diagnostics, it uses the Apple Hardware Test which is located on disc two of the original gray install set. Insert disc two and restart while holding the D key.
Have you tried restarting your router and modem? Or gone through the steps here? Use Wireless Diagnostics to help you resolve Wi-Fi issues on your Mac - Apple Support

May 22, 2016 5:13 AM in response to Mike Sombrioby JDKIII,I'm not the original owner so don't have the disks. The other forums made it seem like with new the OSXs the diagnostics would work. Makes sense though. Wireless diagnostics isn't even an option because it doesn't recognize the card, and won't even let me add wireless as a service. Also, it's not the router or the modem.

May 22, 2016 3:42 PM in response to Mike Sombrioby JDKIII,Funny thing, I had just updated it, so I didn't think that would be an issue. Backed everything up and tried up, and tried to reinstall. Now it keeps coming up with errors with the reinstall process and taking forever, so it won't startup now either, and keeps going back to the OS X install process. lol. fml.

May 22, 2016 3:53 PM in response to JDKIIIby Mike Sombrio,Are you using Recovery to attempt reinstall? Tried a different ethernet cable? Try a Safe Boot? Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support
Can you restore from your backup?

May 22, 2016 5:17 PM in response to Mike Sombrioby JDKIII,Was using recovery. Wasn't the ethernet cable. Safe didn't star up. Ended up using disk utility to delete the entire partition and am starting from scratch. Hopefully that will help with at least that problem. We'll see about the WiFi too. Oh also, restore wasn't an option.

May 22, 2016 5:27 PM in response to JDKIIIby JDKIII,Got it in safe boot for now, but the only new service options for the interface is VPN, PPPOE, and 6 to 4. No option to even try to add wireless to use the wireless diagnostics or to try and mess with settings. Think I may just need the new card...

May 22, 2016 5:42 PM in response to JDKIIIby Mike Sombrio,Some features aren't available in safe mode
Some features of your Mac aren't available when it's started in safe mode, so after you're done using safe mode you should restart your computer normally.
For example, these features don't work in safe mode:
- You can't play movies in DVD Player.
- You can't capture video in iMovie and some other video apps.
- Some audio input or output devices might not work.
- Some USB, FireWire and Thunderbolt devices might not be available.
- Wi-Fi networking might be limited or unavailable depending on the Mac and OS X version you're using.

May 22, 2016 6:09 PM in response to Mike Sombrioby JDKIII,Yeah, except I still can't get it to start out of safe boot without it going directly to try and install El Capitan again. Which is annoying because that's what I was running before I decided to reinstall it.
