Q: Two libraries take up space.
Hi!
I've noticed that i have two photo libraries (iPhoto and Photos) on my hard drive, and they are both the same size. On the picture they are visualized with the two largest squares. Thew are almost identical, so I'm assuming they are duplicates of each other.
How can i get rid of one of the libraries without loosing any photos?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

The iPhot Library and the Photos Library are only looking like they would need twice the storage. When Photos created the Photos Library it created the images in the Photos Library as hard links the images in IPhoto. The hard links are files of the same size as the originals but stored on the same disk blocks, so the storage s only used once. The Finder and other tools are reporting the used storage incorrectly. you can delete iPhoto Library, the iPhoto Bibliothek, but wait until you are sure that all Phoztos and metadata migrated correctly. I'd keep a backup copy.
